As we all know the world & specially India is facing severe energy crisis. We all are talking about 8-9% growth per annum. But, few are thinking how to provide energy for that growth. With one day power cut per week our industries are starving for power. To reduce this the only option left to us is to use renewable sources of power such as wind & solar power. Policy makers plan to install big wind turbines & solar power plants.
Simultaneously we can also make a difference in the energy scenario by installing small wind turbines in our backyard & solar panels on roof top to harness the power of both the wind energy & solar energy. The energy from the wind & sun are both free & available in abundance. Installing these equipments can reduce the electricity bills largely. Further, during power cuts we get backup power from these systems.
Worldwide a lot of research work is going on to use the abundance of the wind & the sun. In some countries there are railways stations powered by solar panels. A few others use solar photovoltaic to charge their electric vehicles while they are parked.
In rural India lots of telecom towers use diesel generators during power cut. In this process they incure lots of expenses every year for diesel & cause noise & pollution. To avoid all this they can install solar panels to harness the energy of sun which is available free.
With unreliability in petroleum & crude oil time has come when we change our energy resources from fossil fuels to renewable energy.
As we all know the world is shifting it’s power requirements from fossil fuel to clean renewable sources of energy. These new sources of energy help in reducing carbon emissions & global warming. So, let us contribute to this movement by using renewable sources of energy.
